When the Met Gala calls, fashion’s finest answer—decked in drama, detail, and pure dazzle. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” with a Gala dress code “Tailored for You”, invited an opulent fusion of history, Black elegance, and avant-garde edge. Two names stood out as red carpet architects: Law Roach and LaQuan Smith. But the million-dollar question remains—who had the best dressed, and who honored the theme with unforgettable finesse? Law Roach once again proved why he’s earned the title Image Architect. This Met Gala, Roach styled an elite roster under his curated Burberry table, and each look was a masterclass in theme interpretation. Zendaya’s appearance was a cinematic fashion moment. Wearing a sculpted white Burberry suit with a dramatic matching hat and subtle vintage glamour, she effortlessly nodded to both dandyism and Roach’s signature styling: unexpected, theatrical, yet incredibly tailored. Angela Bassett, in another Burberry triumph, embodied timeless beauty in a structured ensemble that celebrated Black sophistication and cinematic grandeur. With every camera flash, she was regal and radiant. And André 3000. The fashion icon returned in true form, styled by Roach in a look that blended Harlem Renaissance elegance with his own eccentric genius. Few could straddle dandy and daring the way he did. Law Roach didn’t just dress stars—he built a visual narrative that aligned perfectly with the theme. From wide-brimmed hats to capes and bespoke tailoring, every look celebrated the heritage of Black style with theatrical precision. LaQuan Smith came in hot—literally—with sleek silhouettes, sheer illusions, and curve-hugging couture that commanded attention. Halle Berry, styled in a black sheer LaQuan Smith gown topped with a cropped tuxedo jacket and netted veil, was one of the night’s most buzzed-about. She served sensuality and structure, seamlessly blending sultry with sartorial. If the Met Gala gave out medals for “Comeback of the Year,” she won gold. Ciara, in a glimmering black-and-silver cut-out LaQuan number, brought modern goddess energy. Her look was editorial-worthy from every angle and played with the theme in a subtle, futuristic way. LaQuan’s looks were undeniably stunning, body-celebrating, and modern—but some veered more toward “Met Gala party perfection” than “tailoring Black style” as a central narrative. Still, the craftsmanship was impeccable, and the sex appeal? Unmatched. If we’re talking pure theme execution with jaw-dropping elegance and curated cohesion, Law Roach reigns supreme. His fashion direction didn’t just fit the theme—it elevated it. From Zendaya’s commanding entrance to André 3000’s poetic nostalgia, Roach’s clients looked like a living museum of Black style reawakened. LaQuan Smith absolutely owned the sultry, high-glam portion of the night and gave us jaw-dropping silhouettes. But when it comes to who best translated Superfine: Tailoring Black Style into couture storytelling—Law Roach wins the crown. The first Monday in May did not disappoint! The 2025 Met Gala was a breathtaking blend of high fashion, bold statements, and deeply personal style moments. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” inspired everything from sculptural silhouettes to romantic nostalgia—and some of our favorite stars delivered unforgettable looks that will be talked about for years to come. Let’s get into the best dressed of the night! USHER & JENNIFER GOICOECHEA: THE KING & QUEEN OF COOL Usher and his longtime love Jennifer Goicoechea stepped onto the Met steps like royalty. Usher wore a custom black-on-black Balmain ensemble with subtle floral embroidery that shimmered under the lights—a nod to the “garden” without going literal. He layered it with a dramatic cape that felt both gothic and regal. Jennifer stunned in a floor-length silver gown with a sharp-shouldered silhouette and liquid metallic finish. Her sleek platinum bob and smoky eye completed the power couple look. Together, they radiated modern luxury with an edge. TEYANA TAYLOR: A LIVING WORK OF ART Teyana Taylor never misses—and this year, she gave us fashion, sculpture, and story. Her look was custom Iris van Herpen, featuring layers of laser-cut petals that fanned around her like an abstract blooming flower. The sheer bodice and exaggerated hips created a striking shape that merged her signature strength with softness. With bold plum lips and a braided crown, Teyana looked like a goddess from a future myth. JANELLE MONÁE: TIMELESS AND TRANSCENDENT Janelle Monáe is the moment. Ditching her usual black-and-white uniform, she stunned in a watercolor-inspired gown by Thom Browne. The piece evolved throughout the night—literally. What began as a sculpted bell-shaped dress unfurled to reveal a deconstructed train lined with clocks and timepieces, each ticking at a different hour. She carried a tiny metronome-shaped clutch, and her hair was styled into a sleek, gravity-defying swirl. Janelle didn’t just dress for the theme—she embodied it. COLMAN DOMINGO: THE DEFINITION OF ELEGANCE Colman Domingo walked the carpet in a deep emerald velvet tuxedo by Louis Vuitton, complete with oversized lapels and intricate embroidery that resembled vines creeping up his sleeves. The pièce de résistance? A brooch made of recycled timepieces, symbolizing the preciousness of time. Colman has mastered the art of blending masculinity with fashion-forward flair, and tonight was no exception. Smooth, sophisticated, and slightly whimsical. TRACEE ELLIS ROSS IN MARC JACOBS: A LIVING SCULPTURE Tracee Ellis Ross gave us pure drama in custom Marc Jacobs. The structured gown—crafted entirely of pleated silk in midnight blue—cascaded down like a blooming flower captured in motion. The dramatic headpiece, a gravity-defying tulle halo, floated above her like a dream. With barely-there makeup and an ethereal presence, Tracee reminded us that fashion is art—and she’s the canvas. BABYFACE: CLASSIC NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE Babyface exuded quiet luxury in a double-breasted white tuxedo jacket with black satin trim, paired with tailored black trousers and patent loafers. His look was topped with a single white rose pinned to his lapel, a subtle but emotional nod to the night’s theme. Effortless, elegant, and undeniably suave, Babyface’s style proves that simplicity—with a touch of soul—always wins. WHOOPI GOLDBERG: A WHIMSICAL REINVENTION Whoopi Goldberg brought playful sophistication in a voluminous lavender gown by Christopher John Rogers. The dress featured layers upon layers of tulle, giving her a magical, cloud-like presence. She paired it with her signature round glasses and a bedazzled cane that doubled as a timekeeper—yes, it ticked! Whoopi’s fashion was fun, bold, and unapologetically her—a reminder that age has nothing on style. ANDRÉ 3000: THE TIME-TRAVELING FASHION ICON Leave it to André 3000 to shut down the Met Gala with a look that could only be described as “southern surrealist dandy.” He wore a custom patchwork suit made of antique textiles, each piece representing a different era—think Victorian florals, 1920s pinstripes, and 1970s soul. His boots were embroidered with vines, and his signature wide-brim hat was updated with a jeweled band shaped like an hourglass. A poet in fashion form. This year’s Met Gala reminded us that fashion is not just about what you wear—it’s about the story you tell. These stars not only understood the assignment—they rewrote the rules. Beyoncé and Levi’s® are redefining Americana with REIIMAGINE, a groundbreaking campaign inspired by the brand’s legacy and Queen Bey’s visionary storytelling. Following the buzz of her COWBOY CARTER track “LEVII’S JEANS,” the campaign reinterprets classic Levi’s® ads—starting with a modern take on the iconic 1985 Launderette commercial. From digital projections in major cities to global activations, Levi’s® is making a bold statement, cementing its place in culture. This collab isn’t just about denim—it’s about reimagining history. Just in time for the new year, Clyde Lourdez is here making headlines as the clothing line to watch. Founded in 2019, Clyde Lourdez’s number one goal is to pack the most comfort possible in classic staple pieces made with the right blends of fabric. The Haitian owner coined the term “com*for*ture” – couture made for comfort, to best describe their unique designs. The latest drop for the winter season is the Adinkra Varsity Jacket. With men’s starting at $179.99 and women’s starting at 169.99. Both jackets feature a chenille CL logo on the front left chest, elastic striped ribbed trims, and snap button front closure. The jackets also have a premium satin exterior and quilted satin interior. The meanings of the symbols are broken down below: NYAMI DUA stands for God’s presence and protection THE BESE SAKA stands for Abundance and affluence ESONO ANANTAM stands for Leadership, security, and power Originally, the symbols were mainly displayed on pottery, stools & even cloth – but Clyde Lourdez adopted this tradition and made it fashionable on a global scale. For a more in-depth look and link to buy click here. About the Designer: The owner and designer, Quez is a by-product of the 90s, who was raised in Broward county by a single Haitian mother. Being the oldest he had to help raise his younger siblings. Like a lot of teens growing up in the 90s, Hip-Hop had a huge influence on him. From the way you walked to the way you wore your hair or clothes, it was all about taking a piece and doing everything in your power to make it uniquely yours. Quez has remixed some of these earlier streetwear trends, with a modern flair. The goal was to create something that’s very comfortable without compromising style.
