The Woman King is a 2022 American film about the Agojie, an all-female warrior unit who protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century. The epic film stars academy award winning Actress Viola Davis who portrays a general who trains the next generation of warriors to fight their enemies who wishes to capture them and sell them to European comrades as slaves. This cinematic masterpiece is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and written by Dana Stevens which is based on a story she wrote with Maria Bello. This historical motion picture is inspired by true events that happened in The Kingdom of Dahomey. The Woman King will take you on a range of emotions as this powerful female force fights to the gruesome end to maintain their freedom.
