We kick off the new year and continue the tradition of our annual MLK International Day of Service, which is our commitment to ensuring underserved communities receive adequate resources such as COVID vaccines and tests, as well as breast cancer screenings and educational information through our AKA 3D Mammography Mobile Unit.”
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. strives to reach 100,000 women over the course of four years since launching the 3D mobile unit launched in 2018. The mammography motorcoach has traveled more than 190,000 miles and visited 31 cities across the country. AKA chapters also partner with local clinics, rural health centers, and hospitals to emphasize the need for women of color to receive regular mammograms because early detection saves lives.
