Next Stop

2017-03-21 23:54:39 nstyle

First and foremost I want to thank all of my readers and supporters.  Starting a blog has truly changed my life and opened so many doors for me. I really appreciate the people who have been with me on this journey from day one; thank you.  As I look at my journey so far, I smile because never in a million years would I have thought it would have made a huge impact on people lives. I truly just fell weary with my current situation and wanted to make some changes in my life.  From there I took the courage and confidence that lived inside of me and start living and dreaming my purpose.  Today, I truly encourage you to do the same.

While in New York, I wanted to do a shoot that would reflect my journey. I was super ecstatic that my cousin (who directed my shoot) and I were on the same page.  He told me he wanted to shoot by the train. I knew I would freeze in the 20 degree weather because of my outfit selection.   I wore a black long maxi dress by Forever 21 and paired it with a leather biker jacket.  I wanted the look to show my versatility and a woman who was on the move.  I wanted it to be a stylish; yet edgy look to depict who I was as a person and the woman I have become on this journey.

That train doesn’t come along all the time.

P.S. I Love You

2017-02-07 16:50:52 nstyle

I decided to take a different approach to Valentine’s Day this year and dress it up!  Sometimes we down play “man made” holidays, but I think it’s always fun and exciting to have a reason to get dressed up and go out.  Each year, Valentine’s Day is always that holiday that becomes stressful to some.  If you’re married or in a relationship, you may be wondering if your man would coincidently act up right before this day to avoid getting a gift.  If you’re single, your stressing or wondering if you would have a date for the night or if someone will at least think enough of you to surprise you with some chocolates and roses.  Trust me, I’ve been there and I am here to say; don’t do it to yourself this year.

LOVE has always been that sensitive word or should I say feeling. It’s something that we yearn for and desire as humans.  Valentine’s Day seem to add even more pressure to the word for some ironic reason.  Are we really that vulnerable?  This year, I decided to do something that has carried over from previous years.  Loving me more and more each day has become a priority! While I appreciate these “man made” holidays, Valentine’s Day is one that I decided to have a little fun with. Instead of focusing on a date or who would buy me some supermarket roses (just to say I have a Valentine), I decided to get sexy for the only person who could love me unconditionally; ME.  As vain or egotistical as that may sound, self-love is truly the best love.  Relationships have become way too stressful, and well finding love isn’t always as easy as it may seem.  For me, I’m loved daily by family, friends, and even my followers and I count my blessings for that.  I decided to be unselfish and instead of worrying about what I could get on Valentine’s Day, I wanted to continue to be thankful for the love that I already receive.

So, for the next 7 days, let us celebrate L O V E.  Not the kind that is displayed just on one day, but the kind of love that is shown daily; on a consistent basis.  Let us cherish those who love us, instead of focusing on what someone does for you on one day. Besides, the chance to love and be loved exists no matter where you are.  Some people search their whole lives to find what you already have around you or in you.  I mean, being someone’s love may be great, but being your own is beyond perfect.

P.S. I  L O V E  Y O U…….

All the kids received Mickey Mouse ears or Minnie Mouse ears upon entering the party, got a chance to ride a kid size choo-choo train through the neighborhood and jumped their life away in a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse bouncy jumper. Blogger Soirée

2016-07-01 09:13:17 nstyle

Did someone say Soirée?  Well, my one year blog anniversary celebration was definitely the gathering to be at this past Saturday. I was in aah by the amount of love and support that filled the room at Charlot’s Creole Cafe.  Entrepreneurs came out to not only celebrate, but to network and market their businesses. Host Kiki Alexandra from N’Style Atlanta had a chance to interview some of Atlanta’s most influential entrepreneurs and small business owners. My vision for this event was truly met, and I couldn’t be more thrilled by its success.

Saturday June 25th was bigger than me.  This event was truly to highlight other entrepreneurs and people pursuing their passion.  Guest mingled and laughed, while enjoying chocolate covered bites by Dipped LYLAS.  These mouthwatering berries were the talk of the night.  While sampling products, guest had an opportunity to meet its owners. I think it is truly important to put a face to your products.  It gives a personal touch and adds value to what you are selling.  One of my sponsors, Doug and Cathy Richardson, owner and operator of Chick-fila at Memorial Drive truly exemplifies this concept.  I visit their restaurant at least three times a week, and one of them are always on the front line. Whether there taking orders, or greeting customers, they take pride in their business and value their customers.  Each guest received “swag bags” which included a gift card for a free breakfast sandwich from their restaurant.  How cool is that!  The swag bag also included samples from Cantu.  This natural hair company specializes in hair care and beauty products and provided samples of their amazing shampoo and conditioner that will have your curls speaking volumes! The swag bags was filled with so many other goodies from gift cards, discounts off hair services provided by my amazing hair stylist over at lylashairextensions, discounts off kids clothing provided by ARKADE, and unique jewelry from P3 Style.  These amazing gifts filled bags provided by Tesla Motors. See Kiki’s Red Carpet interviews HERE!

This night was all about the giveaways.  Tesla did not only raffle off a chance to win a Tesla Model S for 24hrs, but there were hair giveaways by Amayesinghair, a hair company that provides premium virgin hair, and also art paintings by Michael Johnson.  This event would not have been possible without my supporters. If you are ever in the Atlanta area, please check out Charlot’s Creole Cafe.  This family based business, own and operated by two brothers serves the best food in town. The atmosphere is small and quaint and the food is to die food.  I had the fried green tomatoes and gumbo and was absolutely sold on this place. Guest danced all night to music by Dj Live.  He definitely set the tone for the venue and made the place very eventful. I’m glad I had a chance to highlight all of the talent that’s out there, that is often overlooked. It is important that we support each other with our business ventures.  We work way too hard as people, and if we just come together more, our path to success will be much easier.  Again, I would like to thank everyone who took the time out to celebrate this night with me. The joy of knowing that you have people who support you and believe in your passion is remarkable. This event was for you and there will be more to come!

The Art Show

2016-06-01 01:40:40 nstyle

IMG_5563This past weekend I had an opportunity to attend an art show that a close family friend Michael Johnson was a part of. This was my first time ever attending an art show. I really didn’t know what to expect so I invited a few friends to tag along with me.  It was a remarkable event.

The atmosphere was intimate, yet fun.  Everyone was super friendly and bubbly.  I met some really cool photographers and artist. Michael Johnson, one of the featured artists at this event scored big with his art pieces. He creates abstract wood paintings out of broken vinyl records.  Yes VINYL!  IMG_5573How he does it, I have no clue?  Let’s just say he is super talented and sold almost all his pieces that night.  I currently own two paintings that Michael done for me a while back.  His talent has really taken off, so he’s a little hard to keep up with these days.  Nonetheless, his work speaks for itself so the wait is definitely worth it.  Check out some of his featured paintings from the show. You can also find him HERE! You can contact him directly if you’re looking to purchase some of his pieces. With father’s day vastly approaching, it will make for the perfect gift. Tell him SHETHORO sent you!
